Instilling Exam Technique from Day 1

At Gifted Thinkers, we instil exam technique into our students from the first day they begin their 11+ and Entrance Exam tuition, in order to foster a familiarity with a pressured time limit and the exam format. We do this to ensure that our students are familiar with completing work within a time restriction and that the completion of the answer booklet for their given entrance exam becomes second nature. In this way, we guide our students through every potential topic for their entrance exam and as the number of topics covered accumulates, their confidence builds.

Bespoke Tuition for the next generation

of Gifted Thinkers.

Our bespoke 11+ and Entrance Exam plans place your child’s academic needs at the centre of our focus point, with everything else logically following suit. Unlike other tuition providers, we do not teach a pre-written course that does not attend to the intellectual particularities of our students. Each student is carefully considered in their strengths and weaknesses, and their Gifted Thinkers tutor will adapt the delivery of the 11+ and Entrance Exam preparation to create a bespoke learning plan. We provide tailored and comprehensive feedback of your child’s development in their entrance exam preparation, ensuring that any problematic areas are noted and weaved into the learning plan for later revision.

Our Gifted Thinkers 11+ and Entrance Exam Plan covers

both the CEM and GL assessment used by the majority of grammar schools in Cheshire and Greater Manchester. • Non-Verbal Reasoning

We have a tailored programme to prepare students for the Trafford CEM Consortium Exam for the following schools:

  • Stretford Grammar School

Our plans are also designed for students preparing for the GL assessment (NFER) used for exams at the following schools:

Entrance Exams: Study a Little & Often.

The phrase “little and often” certainly has important implications for Entrance Exam preparation. Our Gifted Thinkers weekly tuition sessions allow for practice at a scheduled time in order to practice these key skill sets, at a frequency that optimises our student’s acquisition of these new subject areas. If we think about how unfamiliar Non-Verbal Reasoning questions would be to a 10 or 11-year-old, we can appreciate that approaching these challenging subject areas at regular intervals helps to familiarise them with the unseen content.

Studying little and often is also crucial to the acquisition of a large vocabulary, which is one of the building blocks for success in the 11+ and particularly for CEM examinations. From the first session, we introduce word challenges and encourage the steady acquisition of words through weekly vocabulary learning.
